Angel Surada drilled another clutch basket for NU as the Lady Bulldogs stunned the erstwhile undefeated UST Growling Tigresses in Game 1 of the UAAP Season 88 women's basketball Finals.
The breakthrough came at the right time for the NU Lady Bulldogs as they rallied to beat the UST Growling Tigresses, 84-79, in Game 1 of the UAAP Season 88 women’s basketball Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.
UST swept the elimination round, 14-0, and was waiting in the championship round. Meanwhile, NU had to get through the step-ladder semis where the Lady Bulldogs survived Ateneo thanks to Angel Surada's game-winning free throw.
Surada scored on a clutch basket again to open the Finals, pushing NU’s lead to three, 81-78, with 1:13 ticks left.
NU thus moves on the cusp of its ninth title in the last 10 editions of the UAAP women’s basketball tournament.
