The FEU Tamaraws improved to 6-7 after beating UE, further making their case in the UAAP Season 88 Final Four race against close rivals La Salle, Adamson, and Ateneo.
It’s a fight to the finish for the last two Final Four slots in UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball.
The FEU Tamaraws added to their case Saturday, picking up a crucial 84-77 win over the also-ran UE Red Warriors at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
FEU led by as many as 16 points early, but had to hold strong as the Red Warriors made their charge in the fourth quarter.
Jorick Bautista led five Tamaraws in double figures with 17 points, while Mo Konateh had 15 points.
Kirby Mongcopa added 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists for a fine all-around effort as FEU is now 6-7 following back-to-back wins.
As it stands, the Tamaraws are fighting La Salle (6-6), Adamson (6-7), and Ateneo (5-7) for the fourth spot. UST is third with a 7-5 record.
UE got 19 points from Precious Momowei in the loss.
