Miguel Yniguez and the defending champion UP Fighting Maroons look to move closer to a Final Four berth as they battle the still-winless UE Red Warriors in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament on Saturday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.

The Fighting Maroons (7–3) are one of the hottest teams in the league, winning seven of their last eight outings — including a gutsy triumph over the UST Growling Tigers in their previous game.

Yniguez impressed once more with 11 points and two rebounds, continuing to provide energy and impact for coach Goldwin Monteverde’s crew.

With a win, UP can solidify its position in the top half of the standings and inch closer to another Final Four appearance as it seeks to defend its crown.

Meanwhile, UE (0–10) is desperate to end its losing run after another close defeat, this time against Ateneo.

Precious Momowei put up monster numbers with 19 points, 18 rebounds, and four assists in the loss, and will be counted on to lead the Red Warriors’ charge anew.

This game also marks the return of head coach Chris Gavina after a four-game suspension — a timely boost for a UE side eager to finally break through.
