The UP Fighting Maroons went down the wire in their second-round encounter against the UST Growling Tigers for an escape act, 89-88, at the Mall of Asia Arena in UAAP Season 88 on Wednesday evening.
It took a go-ahead basket from Harold Alarcon with 24 ticks left and a defensive stop in the last three seconds to help UP improve to 7-3 and keep solo second in the standings.
Meanwhile, UST, who rose to the occasion with Collins Akowe leading the way, continue their losing streak with four straight games lost at 5-5.
