The surging DLSU Green Archers managed to hold off a late UE Red Warriors rally for a 84-72 win, cruising to their fourth-straight win in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament, Wednesday, October 29, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

La Salle saw its once 19-point fourth-quarter lead shrink to seven at 77–70 following a pair of Dray Caoile free throws with 2:39 remaining in regulation.

But a Jacob Cortez baseline jumper, followed by two Mike Phillips free throws, pushed the Green Archers’ lead back into double digits at 80–70.

From that point on, the Taft-based squad held steady to improve to 5–3 and and a share of second place with champion UP.

Luis Pablo led the Green Archers with a team-high 16 markers, while team captain Mike Phillips posted a solid double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

John Abate and  big man Precious Momowei paced the Red Warriors with 20 points markers each.

Still, it didn't stop a UE side still missing Wello Lingolingo and head coach Chris Gavina from falling to 0–9 and absorbed its 14th consecutive loss dating back to last season.

La Salle seeks a fifth straight win against league-leader NU (7–2) on Sunday, November 2.

UE, meanwhile, continues its search for a breakthrough in a rematch with struggling Ateneo (4–5) on Wednesday, November 5.
