Matt Erolon was the end-game hero as the Adamson Soaring Falcons completed a wild overtime comeback to repeat over UST, entering the Final Four picture of UAAP Season 88.
Matt Erolon drilled the game-winning triple with eight seconds left, helping Adamson complete an epic 97-96 overtime comeback over UST to claim a fourth-straight win in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Trailing 96-94, Erolon sank the clutch three before getting fouled by Nic Cabañero in the decisive play.
Though he missed the freebie, Adamson held on after Forthsky Padrigao’s halfcourt heave went off.
Earlier, Monty Montebon drilled the overtime-sending triple — his third trey in the final 1:18 of regulation — on his way to earning the Player of the Game honors with 19 points.
The win pushed Adamson for a tie in the fourth with UST at 5-4, but the former gained the upper hand after completing an elims sweep to enter the Final Four picture.
Meanwhile, UST suffered its third-straight loss as Collins Akowe's 19 points was put to naught.
After a week-long layoff, the Growling Tigers resume their campaign against UP on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Soaring Falcons, meanwhile, tangle with the FEU Tamaraws next on Sunday, Nov. 2, in the same venue.
