A riveting 22-9 second quarter guided Adamson past UST, snapping the Growling Tigers’ three-game winning streak while allowing the Soaring Falcons to end their first-round campaign with back-to-back victories.
Talk about a soaring Saturday stunner.
Thanks to strong second quarter, the Adamson Soaring Falcons pulled off a 69-59 shocker over the UST Growling Tigers to notch back-to-back victories and close out their first-round campaign in Season 88 on a high, October 18, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Anthony Fransman led the charge with 18 points, while Cedrick Manzano added 12 markers and eight rebounds off the bench for Adamson, who scored its first dub against UST since the second round of Season 86.
Clinging to a slim 24-23 lead midway through the second quarter, the Soaring Falcons unleashed a 14-2 blitz to seize control, 38-25, at halftime.
From there, Adamson held the fort and hiked its record to 3-4 at sixth, just behind the 3-3 DLSU Green Archers.
Meanwhile, skipper Nic Cabañero logged 23 markers in a losing effort as the Growling Tigers slipped to 5-2 and in second place.
The loss also ended UST's three-game winning run and now enter Round 2 seeking for a bounce back.
