The DLSU Green Archers held off a determined FEU Tamaraws side to maintain their grip on solo fourth place in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament.
DLSU got back on the winning track following a thrilling 74-72 escape against the pesky FEU Tamaraws in UAAP Season 88 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion on Wednesday, October 1.
The Green Archers (2-1) saw their once 14-point lead cut down to a single point at 70-69 after a Janrey Pasaol spilt from the charity stripe with 2:18 left in regulation.
However, back-to-back baskets from Mason Amos and Doy Dungo gave DLSU some breathing room at 74-69, before Jorick Baustista drilled a clutch three to make it 72-74 with under a minute left.
FEU has chance to tie the game, but Baustista's lay-up rimmed out as the Tamaraws' comeback attempt fell short.
Dungo fired 17 markers to pace DLSU, who will face arch rivals and league-leaders Ateneo Blue Eagles (3-0) next on Sunday, October 5.
Meanwhile, Bautista's 25 points were put for naught for the Tamaraws, who remained winless at 0-3 and will take on the Adamson Soaring Falcons next.
