National University quickly nipped a furious comeback attempt by Far Eastern U in the second half to complete its 16-point romp, 84-68, and improve to a 2-0 start in the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao Saturday, Sept. 27.

The Bulldogs held a sizeable lead at halftime, 44-30, but had to hold off a surging Tamaraws side in the third quarter, to join Ateneo (2-0) atop the heap.

FEU tied things up at 44-all halfway in the third but fell short in the end to join University of the East and University of the Philippines at the bottom of the standings with their identical 0-2 slates.

Meanwhile, Janrey Pasaol tried to rally the Tamaraws with his 16 markers.
