UST guard Forthsky Padrigao remains eligible for the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball end-of-season awards, even though he will miss the Growling Tigers’ opener against defending champion UP this Sunday, September 21.

Padrigao is serving a one-game suspension after committing two unsportsmanlike fouls last year during their Final Four matchup against the Fighting Maroons.

He picked up a Category 1 unsportsmanlike foul at the 9:33 mark of the third quarter and another Category 1 foul at 3:24 of the fourth.

According to UAAP rules, accumulating both Category 1 and Category 2 unsportsmanlike fouls results in an automatic ejection and a one-game suspension.

However, the league clarified that because the infractions were from Season 87, Padrigao’s eligibility for awards such as the Mythical Five remains intact this year.

Now entering his second and final year with UST after transferring from Ateneo in 2023, Padrigao is expected to be a key figure in the Tigers’ campaign alongside the graduating Nic Cabañero.

A former Mythical Five member, Padrigao averaged 8.7 points, 5.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals last season.
