Though his tenure was short, Sherwin Meneses guided the NU Lady Bulldogs to a successful women's volleyball title defense in Season 87, the school’s third championship in four years.
Sherwin Meneses officially closed his NU chapter with a heartfelt farewell, as the Lady Bulldogs turned a new page with Regine Diego as their next head coach starting Season 88.
“It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my career to work with such passionate and hardworking athletes, and to be part of a community that lives by discipline, heart and excellence,” Meneses wrote in an Instagram post.
In Season 87, Meneses led NU to a 12-2 record before besting FEU Lady Tamaraws in the Final Four and sweeping archrival De La Salle University Green Spikers in the Finals to deliver the school’s third title in four years.

He also guided the Lady Bulldogs to a three-peat in the SSL preseason tournament last year.
“I will forever carry with me the pride of being part of this family, and I will continue to support the team in any way I can,” he added.

During his lone year with NU, he coached standouts such as three-time MVP Bella Belen, former Finals MVP Alyssa Solomon and star setter Lams Lamina.

“To the players, remember this — always give your best, chase success with everything you have and keep moving forward. There is no turning back, only opportunities to grow, to learn and to become better every single day,” he bared.
Meneses also extended his best wishes to his successor.
“I also want to extend my best wishes to Coach Regine as she takes on this new journey with the team. I am excited to see you all soar even higher under her guidance.
National University formally confirmed the coaching change on Friday, after reports spread in the past weeks that the Lady Bulldogs were turning to Diego. Meneses' wife had posted that Sherwin only had a one-year contract with the school.

Meneses closed: “To NU management, thank you once again for the trust, the opportunity and the countless memories that I will cherish forever.”
"His leadership led the Lady Bulldogs to the UAAP Season 87 Championship, completing a historic golden double finish for both our men's and women's volleyball teams," NU posted.
With NU behind him, Meneses is setting his sights on the Creamline Cool Smashers, aiming to end the team’s PVL title drought that stretches back to the 2024 Invitationals.
