University of Santo Tomas stars Detdet Pepito and Jonna Perdido are not done yet.

The graduating libero and injured winger have both opted to return for one last dance with the UST Golden Tigresses in UAAP Season 88, using their fifth and final year of eligibility.

Fr. Rodel Cansancio, O.P., director and regent of the UST Institute of Physical Education and Athletics, confirmed the news through a social media post simply captioned: “1 More Year.”

Cansancio later shared his statement, expressing the school’s excitement on Pepito and Perdido’s return.

“We're overjoyed by their decision and deeply grateful they've chosen to stay with us despite being eligible to turn pro. What's most important to UST is that they've completed their studies. We prioritize their academic achievement and appreciate their commitment to our program. We're thrilled that these two have extended their stay with us,” Cansancio wrote.

Pepito, the steady floor general and team captain, led the Golden Tigresses to another Final Four finish in Season 87.

Despite UST’s strong campaign, they fell short in their semifinal duel against the DLSU Lady Spikers, missing the twice-to-beat advantage after a late-season slide.

The 22-year-old elementary education major stood out once again with her elite defensive numbers, ranking second in the league in digs with 4.25 per set and fourth in receptions with a 42.74% efficiency.

With her decision to stay in España, Pepito will forego eligibility for the upcoming 2025 PVL Rookie Draft this June.

Meanwhile, Perdido is aiming to make a strong comeback after sitting out Season 87 due to a full ACL tear sustained during the Shakey’s Super League Pre-Season Championship bronze medal match in late 2023.

Her absence was felt throughout the season as UST leaned heavily on standout rookie Angge Poyos and veteran Reg Jurado for scoring.

Now, with both Pepito and Perdido returning, UST hopes to build on its momentum and take another shot at the crown in Season 88.
