Jaja Santiago, one of the most iconic figures in National University's volleyball history, has a heartfelt message for her alma mater as the Lady Bulldogs prepare to battle the DLSU Lady Spikers in the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Volleyball Finals.

Now a seasoned pro competing in Japan, Santiago, also known as Sachi Minowa, reminded the current NU squad to embrace their identity and the hard work that got them back on the championship stage.

“Good luck and you've been there a lot,” Minowa said during an interview on One News’ Play by Play. “I know na kaya niyong ipakita kung ano 'yung meron kayo, huwag niyo kakalimutan kung sino kayo as a player, kung sino kayo as a team, what you built on your team.”

“Hindi ganun kadali na umabot sa championship. Lahat 'yan pinaghirapan niyo, so don't waste it and good luck.”

The Lady Bulldogs are making their fourth consecutive finals appearance and are looking to defend their crown against a resurgent La Salle squad that also pushed NU to the limit in previous seasons.

Minowa, who also watched NU clinch the title in Season 86 against the UST Golden Tigresses, continues to be one of the program’s biggest supporters even after turning pro.

In fact, the 29-year-old middle blocker even said that she plans on watching from the sidelines once more.

“Galingan niyo. I'll be there, I'll support you guys,” said Minowa.

Game 1 of the best-of-three UAAP Season 87 Finals series between NU and La Salle tips off on Sunday, May 11, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
