Former UE guard Rainer Maga has transferred to the UP Fighting Maroons, where he will serve a one-year residency before becoming eligible for two UAAP seasons.
The UP Fighting Maroons continue to reload their arsenal, this time securing the services of promising point guard Rainer Maga after departing from the UE Red Warriors.
Maga, who impressed in his debut UAAP season with the Red Warriors, averaged 8.1 points on 40% shooting from beyond the arc, along with 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in just 22 minutes per game.

The 6-foot guard will bring his steady playmaking and scoring touch to the Fighting Maroons' already deep guard rotation.
The transfer also marks a reunion with former UE teammate Rey Remogat, who is set to make his UP debut in Season 88 after serving his residency year. Maga, for his part, will redshirt the upcoming season before becoming eligible for two full years with State U.
UP’s point guard rotation remains in good hands for the upcoming season with Remogat, Harold Alarcon, Gerry Abadiano, and Jacob Bayla leading the charge.
Maga's arrival, however, adds valuable long-term depth to the backcourt, especially after the graduation of Finals MVP JD Cagulangan.
Alongside Maga, the Fighting Maroons have also welcomed other key recruits, including NCAA Finals MVP James Payosing from San Beda and Jose Maria College standout Arvie Poyos.
