History was made at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Sunday as De La Salle Zobel guard Erica de Luna notched the first-ever quadruple-double in UAAP history as she towed La Salle to the 114-24 rout of Ateneo.

De Luna, 18, is the first to achieve the rare feat across all UAAP divisions.

She tallied 32 points on 13-of-21 shooting, 16 rebounds, 12 steals, and 11 assists.

The last known quadruple-double at the amateur level was by Joshua Saret, who had 89 points, 13 steals, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds in JRU’s 171-43 drubbing of Angeles University Foundation during the NCAA Season 86 Juniors Basketball Tournament on July 23, 2009.

De Luna talked about the feat boosting her confidence as DLSZ sharpens iron in the girls tournament.

“Nakaka-boost ito ng confidence heading into my collegiate career. Even though konti lang yung time at preparation namin, proud ako aside from my stats, na we ended the season with a win on a high note,” she said.

DLSZ finished with a 2-4 slate after a 31-6 start, which blew up to a 59-12 advantage by halftime.

Zobel assistant coach Maan Moreno praised De Luna’s growth and consistency throughout their first season in the league.

“Very consistent talaga siya. Nandoon talaga consistency niya. Wala na rin mahihiling pa sa kanya. Very proud ako na yung maturity niya, hindi lang sa stats. Ito kasi hot-headed minsan, eh dahil sa UAAP, nagmature siya doon sa area na ‘yon,” Moreno said.

The UAAP Season 87 girls basketball tournament will feature powerhouses NU-Nazareth School and the UST Junior Golden Tigresses. Before that, they meet in their final elimination game on Thursday, March 6.
