UAAP: Champion libero Pearl Ann Denura bids NU Lady Bulldogs farewell after a successful career

UAAP: Champion libero Pearl Ann Denura bids NU Lady Bulldogs farewell after a successful career
Pearl Ann Denura played a solid back-up libero role for NU, behind the likes of Jen Nierva and Shaira Mae Jardio.

Pearl Ann Denura is going out in style.

On Wednesday, the two-time UAAP champion libero announced that she is leaving National University, fresh after taking a second championship with the Lady Bulldogs in the past three seasons.

Denura took time to extend her gratitude to the NU community, particularly her teammates and the whole coaching staff during her five-year stay in the school, which she described as an “an adventurous roller coaster ride, with endless incomparable highs and devastating lows.”

“This is Pearl An Tirado Denura, jersey number 2 of the National University Lady Bulldogs. Your “Jr Pep squad/ Dancing Libero” signing off,” the 23-year-old volleybelle added.

Denura joined the Sampaloc-based squad in Season 82. She then went on to win her first championship in Season 84 as part of the historic NU team that went 16-0 in the tournament, ending the school’s 65-year women's volleyball title drought.

After a devastating Season 85 where NU lost its championship to the DLSU Lady Spikers in a Finals rematch, the Lady Bulldogs completed their redemption arc in Season 86 after beating the UST Golden Tigresses via a sweep in the championship series.

After a title-filled collegiate career, the question now is where to next, Pearl?
