The University of Santo Tomas avenged its loss against Far Eastern University last week, dominating the University of the East in straight sets, 25-19, 25-9, 25-17, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, April 21.

Coming off a week to rest and prepare for their match, the Golden Tigresses quickly vented their ire against the struggling Lady Warriors for a comfortable victory in all three sets.

Angge Poyos, who sat out the crucial fourth set against FEU, came out firing as she had eight points in the first set alone. She finished with 25 points built on 21 attacks, one block, and three service aces.

Em Banagua likewise made her return after dealing with a hamstring injury that forced her to sit out two games for UST.

After being limited to just nine points in the second set, the Lady Warriors showed some fight in the third, grabbing an early lead at 11-5.

UST, however, managed to trim the deficit and even distanced themselves once more after taking over, with Pierre Abellana scoring three-straight points for a 20-15 lead.

Just after that, it was Poyos' turn to score three-straight points, before Cassie Carballo connected on a one-two play to seal the win.

The win put the Golden Tigresses at an 11-2 record, tied with National University for first place with just one game left in the elimination round.

The Lady Warriors, on the other hand, dropped to 2-11 for seventh in the standings.

Khy Cepada finished with nine points, while Casiey Dongallo only had seven in the loss.
