De La Salle University is now tied with University of Santo Tomas and National University at the top of the standings, after powering past Adamson University in four sets, 17-25, 25-19, 25-11, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, April 17.

The Lady Spikers, coming off their loss against the Lady Bulldogs last Sunday, were taken aback in the first set after the Lady Falcons made an impressive 10-0 run to snatch the frame.

Already playing without reigning MVP Angel Canino, La Salle's injury woes worsened after opposite hitter Baby Jyne Soreño sustained a shoulder injury during the first set. She had collided with libero Lyka De Leon while attempting a dig.

Despite this, DLSU managed to regain its composure to take the second and third frame in convincing fashion.

Leading by two points for most of the fourth set, La Salle managed to keep its cool despite an Adamson rally late in the frame as Alleiah Malaluan's down-the-line attack sealed the win for the Taft-based squad.

Laput led the way for the Lady Spikers with 24 points built on 22 attacks and two blocks. Thea Gagate added 12 markers in the win.

With the victory, the Lady Spikers are tied with the Golden Tigresses and the Lady Bulldogs with a 10-2 record.

Based on UAAP rules, a triple-tie with the win-loss record will be decided on based on points. This means NU leads with 30 points, while La Salle (29) is ahead of UST (28).

Adamson, on the other hand, slides to a 3-8 record.

Jen Villegas finished with 16 points while Ayesha Juegos contributed 10 in the loss.
