Despite the distractions, Angel Canino remains focused and grateful for genuine support as the DLSU Lady Spikers strive for continued dominance in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament.
A lot was said after the DLSU Lady Spikers' tough five-set loss against the UST Golden Tigresses last Sunday.
Taking the big chunk of the good and bad responses was La Salle superstar Angel Canino after many UAAP fans criticized her in-game expressions versus UST.
But after their dominant straight-sets victory over the Ateneo Blue Eagles, the reigning MVP revealed how she was able to avoid the distractions on social media.
"I was able to tune out everything of that because I have no social media right now. So, wala akong nakikita kahit anomang negative or positive 'yung sinasabi nila," Canino said during the post-game press conference.
"For me, it's important for me to protect my peace of mind talaga," she added.
Canino though had something to say for those that continue to support her and her family.
"Malaking pasasalamat ko sa mga positive comments, sa mga lumalapit sa family ko. Maraming salamat po sa kanila kasi 'yun talaga 'yung totoong nagsusuporta samin," said Canino.

The 20-year-old outside hitter finished with just 10 points in the win over Ateneo, a far cry from her 28 points versus UST.
But this was admittedly one of La Salle's adjustments heading into the rivalry match.
"Sobrang laki ng adjustment na ginawa ng team namin and I'm happy to see the applications na ginawa namin just from a week nung natalo kami," said Canino.
With a laser-focused Canino, the Lady Spikers will look to continue their dominant run so far in Season 86 as they face the UE Lady Red Warriors on Wednesday, March 6 at the Mall of Asia Arena at 4:00 p.m.
