After a straight-sets loss to the UST Golden Tigresses and a close five-set win over the Ateneo Blue Eagles, the NU Lady Bulldogs finally grabbed a dominant win in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament on Wednesday, February 28.

The Lady Bulldogs powered their way through the Adamson Lady Falcons for a comfortable straight-sets victory, 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.

More than getting enough recovery for this particular game, coach Norman Miguel also pointed out a change in the team's character and pride which contributed to their victory.

"Tingin ko 'yung drive talaga nila. I think 'yung character at saka 'yung pride," Miguel said during the post-game press conference.

"First game we lost to UST [tapos] second game, even though we won against Ateneo, it was still a five-setter. Parang kulang sa pride 'yung game na 'yun eh. Sa tingin ko 'yun 'yung pinaghuhugutan nila ngayon na this time, we have to show how NU women's volleyball team really plays," he added.

It's clear that the Lady Bulldogs came in laser-focused for their game versus the Lady Falcons, as they limited Adamson to just 31 attacks.

NU also had a balanced scoring output from main guns Alyssa Solomon, Bella Belen, and Vange Alinsug, who combined for 44 of the team's 52 points.

Despite starting slow into the season, Miguel is already seeing NU rounding out into form which he hopes will peak at the right time.

"Slowly, nakita namin paangat. Mas okay na kami na paangat," said Miguel. "Ilang games pa before the first round instead of 'yung maaga kang mag-peak tas bumababa ka, so 'yun talagang iniingatan namin."

The Lady Bulldogs will look to continue their winning ways as they face the UP Fighting Maroons on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena at 2:00 p.m.
