From sports performance to game fitness, the reigning UAAP women's volleyball champions DLSU Lady Spikers are going on a higher level.

The fans have been wondering about the black arm band that was wrapped around the arms of the DLSU Lady Spikers during their straight set win against the FEU Lady Tamaraws.

Was this a fashion statement? Was this a message of support?

According to Lady Spikers deputy coach Noel Orcullo, this device is more than just an accessory.

“Ano lang ‘yan. Monitoring nila. Gadget ‘yan," Orcullo said.

Lady Spikers stars Angel Canino and Lyka De Leon added that the fitness tracker held in their black arm band helps in tracking their performance and calculating the recovery of their bodies.

This type of arm band monitoring device is widely used by other international athletes in the NBA, NFL, and MBL.

It is highly important, particularly for the defending champions, the DLSU Lady Spikers, to avoid further injury.

The DLSU Lady Spikers currently have a strong start on their title retention quest in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball, going 2-0 after sweeping the Adamson Lady Falcons and FEU Lady Tamaraws.

DLSU will next take on the UST Golden Tigresses on Sunday, February 25, 3 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena.

It will be aired on One Sports, the UAAP Varsity Channel, and the Pilipinas Live app.
