The UAAP Cheerdance Competition defending champions NU Pep Squad are aiming straight for the jugular in their title defense on Saturday.

Speaking to the media in the pre-tournament press conference, the seven-time champions issued statements that also sounded like a warning to other competitors.

"We will always bring a very death-defying routine, a very challenging routine every season for the cheerdance competition," NU coach Gabriel Bajacan said.

Captain Neo Espiritu doubled down that the already-dynastic pep squad continues to level up.

"It’s become more difficult and more surprising routine po para sa lahat ng supporters namin," Espiritu claimed.

"We made sure na mas nag-improve kami lalo sa dance. In terms of difficult mas naging handa po kami at mas exciting ang ilalabas natin."

Last year, NU reclaimed its UAAP CDC title with a flawless aerobics and zumba-themed performance. This season, they are gunning for the back-to-back crown with an Elvis Presley-inspired cheer.

"We want to pay tribute sa totoong king, which is si Elvis Presley. We thought of a theme na makakarelate matatanda, artists, musicians," coach Bajacan said.

NU has become a household name in the cheerdance landscape since winning the university's first crown in 2013. The NU Pep Squad has won seven of the last nine titles.
