Ateneo loyalists rejoice as Brazilian coach takes over women's volleyball team

Changes were expected after the Ateneo Blue Eagles missed the UAAP women's volleyball Final Four for the first time in 15 years. And on Monday night, the university announced it replaced Oliver Almadro with tactician Sergio Veloso.

The Brazilian has 37 years of experience and currently handles the men's national team too.

Blue Eagles loyalists are in unison in giving the thumbs up to the coaching change.

One fan pointed out that the move is a great start for the Ateneo program.  The Blue Eagles will try to bounce back next year after winning just four games in the final years of Faith Nisperos and Vanie Gandler.

Sergio's stint with the men's national team has also earned respect from other supporters.

I am more optimistic kay Coach Sergio than JDB coz of how he was during the SEAG (not the losing part but the managing and coaching during the games)
