UST rules UAAP Season 85, overall champion once more

UST rules UAAP Season 85, overall champion once more

Just like that, UAAP Season 85 has come to a conclusion, with the UST Growling Tigers emerging at the very top once more.

UST bagged its sixth straight overall championship with 332 total points, compared to second place De La Salle Green Archers and their 279 total. This win marks the Pontifical and Royal University's 67th general championship, extending their record for most in league history.

The España-based squad may have placed dead last in the men's basketball tournament, which is arguably the crown jewel of any UAAP season, but it dominated in several events to make up for that.

UST topped nine sporting categories, including both the men's and women's events of beach volleyball, women's 3x3 basketball, men's chess, men's tennis, men's table tennis, women's taekwondo, men's judo, and women's track and field.

In total, the athletes wearing black, gold, and white collected 19 podium finishes.

UST also topped the whole high school division with 230 points.

Needless to say, it has been quite a run for the student-athletes of España. And, rest assured, they will be shooting for a seventh straight overall title next season.
