You think a big win will give them an early break? Nope, says coach.
University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses bagged their biggest win yet in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday.
The Golden Tigresses did what no other team in the league had done and beat erstwhile unbeaten De La Salle University Lady Spikers, 25-19, 14-25, 25-18, 25-12 before almost 9,000 screaming fans at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
But that doesn’t mean the Tigresses can go on an early Holy Week break.
“Bago makapag-relax magpe-penitensya muna sila,” said coach Kungfu Reyes said with a smile.
In fact, his wards have a scheduled training tomorrow.
But the outspoken mentor is hopeful the break will bode well for the Tigresses, who now hold the no. 3 spot with a 7-3 win-loss record. At 9-1, La Salle remains atop the heap.
“Agahan lang namin penitensya nila during training para at least bago 'yung next game on April 15 makasama sila sa pamilya nila at makakuha pa additional energy para sa relatives o kung sino nami-miss nila,” he said.
“[Para] makakuha ng words of wisdom sa lola’t lolo nila. 'Yung iba baka magre-renew ng agimat,” he added with a laugh.
