The Adamson University Lady Falcons on Saturday defeated the Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball competition, 25-23, 25-17, 26-24, repeating their straight-sets victory in the first round.

This also marks the first time in 14 years that the Lady Falcons completed an eliminations sweep of the former powerhouse team.

For fans, it's a day that emphasizes Adamson as a solid contender for the Final Four, after their Season 84 fourth-seed playoff loss.

But for the Lady Falcons, it was another Saturday.

"Wala lang," coach Jerry Yee told the media after he was asked about the win. "Trabaho, syempre. Kailangan namin gawin para maka-qualify for the top four."

Kate Santiago was hailed the Player of the Game with 18 points coming off 15 attacks and 3 aces, along with 9 excellent digs. She also didn't think too much of the feat.

"Focused lang ako," she said, explaining how she needed to improve after the consistent double-digit scorer managed only nine points against the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses.

Adamson now stands at solo second with a 7-2 record. But their three-game win streak would be challenged as the Lady Falcons will next face the National University Lady Bulldogs. Adamson forced NU to five sets in Round 1, showing the rest of the schools that the defending champions could be vulnerable.

But coach Jerry Yee is not piling on the pressure.

"Long break, pero 'di naman kami uuwi. Dito kami magho-Holy Week," he said, noting the balance between rest and practice, as well as managing the heat.

"Tapos aasa na makadikit uli. Kung hindi, okay lang. Laban lang. May plano, kung ma-execute, good. Kung talo, part ng game 'yan."

The NU-Adamson rematch will take place on April 12, 3 p.m. at the FilOil EcoOil Centre. The games will also be shown live on One Sports and the UAAP Varsity Channel.
