The Ateneo Blue Eagles end their first round assignments on a positive note.
After four straight frustrating losses, the Ateneo Blue Eagles finally broke out of their slump after getting a much-needed straight sets win against the UP Lady Maroons, 25-16, 25-20, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 85 Women's Volleyball Tournament.
Vanie Gandler and Faith Nisperos towed the Blue Eagles to their second win of the season with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
"You know it's been quite a tough first round," Gandler shared after the game.
The Katipunan squad has been swept four times and lost to the FEU Tamaraws in five sets.
It's going to be a tough battle for Ateneo to crack the Final Four, but Gandler is optimistic that they can still turn things around in the next half of the tournament.
"Hopefully, we can use this win as momentum coming into the second round."
