The UST Golden Tigresses coach is familiar with the experience of the slumping Ateneo Blue Eagles.
The UST Golden Tigresses pounced on the struggling Ateneo Blue Eagles last Wednesday, and it was easy to point out what went right and wrong for both sides.
UST was in-sync like a clockwork and executed well from defense to offense. Coach Kungfu Reyes was particularly happy with how the Golden Tigresses avoided unforced errors.
"Naka-execute kami nang medyo malinis-linis galaw namin," Reyes said after the 25-19, 25-23, 25-14 romp.
"I think wala kaming service error today, napakasarap sa pakiramdam na lalabas kaming walang masyadong unforced error."
Ateneo actually scored more attack points over UST, 41-39, but the Golden Tigresses yielded less unforced errors: 11, compared to the Katipunan squad's 25.
UST practically won a set with Ateneo's errors alone.
"Sa kabila naman, medyo swerte rin kami, hindi na kami masyado nahihirapan, siguro masama lang ang gising ni Ateneo ngayong araw. Ang dami nilang unforced error," Reyes added.
This particular Achilles' heel on committing errors hounded UST before, and Reyes pointed out that the Blue Eagles has shot their own foot with the same mistakes.
"Nakakuha sila ng momentum, sila rin 'yung pumuputol nun," he said.
"Nakikita namin 'yung ganung sistema dati sa amin na hirap na hirap na kaming makakuha ng puntos tapos tatapunan namin ng unforced error."
