The Philippine triathlon teams kickstarted the country's gold medal haul on Wednesday. They have one more day of competition on December 19.
The Philippines continued its domination in the Southeast Asian Games triathlon scene, picking up the three gold medals at hand on Wednesday, December 17.
It was three-for-three for the Philippines, winning the women's, men's, and mixed team relay.
It was the first time the Team 3 Women Relay was held. Kira Ellis, Raven Faith Alcoseba, and Kim Mangrobang finished with a time of 1:10:14.
Indonesia was 34 seconds behind.
In the Team 3 Men Relay, the group of Inaki Emil Lorbes, Fernando Jose Casares, and Matthew Hermosa snatched the gold medal with a time of 1:04:05.
They were only ten seconds ahead of Singapore.
The race got even tighter in the Team Mixed Relay 2 Men + 2 Women.
The group of Kira Ellis, Fernando Casares, Kim Remolino, and Raven Faith Alcoseba defended the Philippines' mixed relay gold from 2019 with a time of 1:30:31.
They were only ahead by four seconds from Indonesia.
Yesterday, the Philippines clinched two silvers and one bronze in the aquathlon relays.
The Philippines got silver in the Team 3 Women Relay with 51:46, with 23 seconds behind Indonesia.
The same happened in the Team Mixed Relay 2 Men + 2 Women with a time of 1:04:58, 44 seconds behind Indonesia once again.
The Filipinos settled for bronze in the Team 3 Men Relay with a time of 47:32. Indonesia was first with 46:23.
The triathlon team will aim for more medals in the men's and women's individual events on December 19.
Two-time champion Casares will be looking to defend his title, while three-time gold medalist Kim Mangrobang will aim to return to the top after a silver finish in 2023.
