Alex Eala and Niño Alcantara advanced to the SEA Games 2025 mixed doubles semifinals with a straight-sets win, assuring the Philippines of at least a bronze medal.
Alex Eala and Niño Alcantara continued the Philippines’ strong showing in tennis at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games after advancing to the mixed doubles semifinals on Monday at the Tennis Development Center in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
The Filipino tandem dispatched Singapore’s Daniel Abadia and Wei Choo, 6-4, 6-3, to book a spot in the final four and guarantee themselves at least a bronze medal in the event.
Eala and Alcantara, who won a bronze medal together at the 2023 Asian Games, controlled key moments in both frames as they closed out the match in straight sets.
The duo entered the quarterfinals well-rested after receiving a Round of 16 bye, an advantage that showed as they settled quickly despite a limited margin for error against the Singaporean pair.
