The Philippines secured another four silver medals and a handful of bronze medals with Day 4 of official competition at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
Team Philippines expanded their medal haul on Day 4 of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, picking up silver and bronze medals across judo, taekwondo, figure skating, and other events.
John Viron Ferrer earned silver in the men’s judo -81kg division, while taekwondo jins Merica Lillyn Chan and Kenneth Riley Buenavides also followed with silver medals in the women’s -62kg and men’s -63kg categories, respectively.
Two-time national champion Maxine Bautista likewise took silver in the women’s figure skating event, scoring 129.33 points.
Several other Filipino athletes captured bronze as two-time Olympic medalist Nesthy Petecio settled for a podium finish after a tough split decision loss to Indonesia’s Hasanah Huswatun in the women’s 63kg division.
The Philippine jiu-jitsu team fell to Vietnam in the mixed team semifinals, also settling for bronze.
In karate, Alwyn Batican claimed bronze in the men’s kumite -75kg category after defeating Timor-Leste, while taekwondo jins Dave Cea and Baby Jessica Canabal added bronze in the men’s -74kg and women’s -53kg divisions.
Paolo Borromeo contributed a bronze in men’s figure skating, tallying 128.39 points.
Krisna Malecdan and Krizan Collado picked up a bronze in the women’s wushu duilian barehanded event, with more medal rounds still ongoing that could add to the Philippines’ total before day’s end.
Friday was the Philippines’ strongest day at the 2025 SEA Games so far, with six gold medals, nine silver, and additional bronze medals, moving the country to fifth in the medal standings.
