Riding high from her relay gold two days earlier, Kayla Sanchez surged to another victory in the women’s 100-meter freestyle, leading a 1-2 Philippine sweep with Heather White at SEA Games 2025.
One gold wasn’t enough so Kayla Sanchez made it two.
Olympian Kayla Sanchez became the Philippines’ first double gold medalist at the Southeast Asian Games 2025, claiming the top prize in the women’s 100-meter freestyle at the Sports Authority of Thailand Aquatics Center in Bangkok on Friday, December 11.
Just two days after winning gold in the team relay, Sanchez added an individual triumph, finishing ahead of compatriot Heather White in a 1-2 Philippine sweep.
The 24-year-old clocked in at 54.82 seconds, with White submitting 55.36 seconds, and Singapore’s Ting Wen Quah completing the podium with a 55.60-second output.
Sanchez’s two golds add to the pair of bronze medals she collected just yesterday in the 50-meter backstroke and 200-meter freestyle, cementing her status as one of the standout performers for Team Philippines in SEA Games Thailand 2025.
