Former SEA Games champion John Derick Farr kicked off the Philippines’ medal haul at SEA Games Thailand 2025, earning bronze in the mountain bike downhill run.
Derick Farr once again proved he’s a force to be reckoned with on the downhill, claiming bronze in the mountain bike downhill finals and securing the Philippines’ first medal in the SEA Games 2025 on Wednesday, December 10.
The 2019 SEA Games gold medalist tackled the 1.35-kilometer course with precision, crossing the finish line in 2:43.676.
His compatriot, Simon Peter Servillon, narrowly missed the podium, finishing in 2:45.866.
It was host Thailand’s Methasit Boonsane who took gold in dominant fashion, clocking 2:37.856, while Indonesia’s Rendy Sanjaya snatched silver at 2:38.714.
Another Thai rider, Chitiphat Arsa, completed the top five with a time of 2:47.162.
Farr sees progress in his performance, describing his bronze medal in the mountain bike downhill as “hard-earned.”
“‘Yung performance ko kanina, I could say na nag-improve ako kahit papaano. Nababa ko po ‘yung time ko yesterday from 2:48, and ngayon po is 2:43,” he said.
“Malaking achievement po siya sa akin, and I would say na hard-earned medal po talaga ‘yung nakuha ko po. Proud po ako sa sarili and sa team,” Farr added.
