Back-to-back big wins for the Philippines in men's baseball action in the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
Not quite the shutout as last time but a dominant win nonetheless for Team Philippines in SEA Games 2025 baseball.
The Filipino batters made it two in a row in Thailand on Sunday, taking the 17-3 victory over Singapore at the Queen Sirikit Sports Center.
This was a strong follow-up win after the Philippines also beat Indonesia yesterday, 14-0.
The Philippines was up 8-0 after four innings, and while Singapore took three runs back in the 5th, the defending gold medalists racked up another nine runs in the next two innings to close the deal.
“I’m very happy, I’m sure they’re also very happy. Personally, I like this sport. Look at its historical significance, ang galing natin sa baseball in the 1930s. Ako I truly believe we can excel in this sport,” said PSC Chairman Pato Gregorio, who was at the venue to support the team.
While baseball is not regularly played at the SEA Games, the Philippines has won three of the four previous gold medals, including the last one in 2019 when Manila was the host.
The Philippines will be back in action still in preliminary play on Monday against Malaysia.
