Mallie Ramirez made an immediate impact in her first appearance for the Philippine women's national football team.

Ramirez scored the Filipinas' lone goal in their 2–1 loss to Myanmar in the SEA Games 2025 Thailand opener on Friday, December 5, at the IPE Chonburi Stadium.

Despite the tough defeat, the Cebuana forward remains confident that the Philippines will bounce back in their next match.

Ramirez said the team understands the importance of starting stronger and responding with urgency as they continue their Group A campaign.

“I think we gotta come out stronger next game, and we will come out stronger next game. Obviously, that's not the result that we wanted, but we're gonna keep working, and we're gonna win,” she said in a Cignal interview.

Her 69th-minute equalizer, scored off a rebound from a Jessika Cowart header, energized the squad and marked a memorable moment in her international debut. She even offered her goal to the Cebu community.

“Obviously it was a really big moment for me. It was my first half, my debut. It really meant a lot for me. I'm from Cebu, so Cebuano that was for you. It was just really important for me and special,” Ramirez shared.
