The Gazz Angels are hoping to replicate their success in 2022 with their new roster.
The Petro Gazz Angels welcomed 2023 with a lot of changes to its championship roster, losing head coach Rald Ricafort, star outside hitter Myla Pablo, libero Bang Pineda, and middle blocker Seth Rodriguez.
Despite the major shakeups, middle blocker MJ Phillips said that she’s only focusing on what she can control.
“Same as it’s always been. Just control what I can control because if not then things start to get hectic and I just need to control what I can control,” said Phillips.
The Gazz Angels, though, got some reinforcement amid the revamp. The team will now be led by Ateneo coach and former Choco Mucho tactician Oliver Almadro, who’s raring to prove he’s worthy to be in the pro league.
Former F2 Logistics middle blocker Des Clemente will also join the squad to add some depth to the team.
With the Gazz Angels coming off their Reinforced championship win, Phillips said that the team is still in good spirits—something they can bank on when the new PVL season starts.
“Mindset? Just do everything exactly the same I did it last time and I think off of last year, our energy is still up and high, so I think we can continue it.”
