Kianna Dy delivered a vintage all-around performance as PLDT stayed unbeaten with a four-set win over Capital1 in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Vintage Kianna Dy was on full display as PLDT stayed unbeaten in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The veteran spiker delivered a composed all-around showing with 20 points and 11 excellent digs in the High Speed Hitters’ four-set win over the Capital1 Solar Spikers, 25-20, 25-16, 22-25, 25-17, on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the FilOil Centre in San Juan.
Dy pointed to discipline and preparation as the biggest factors behind PLDT’s win, stressing that the team treats every opponent the same way.
"We followed the game plan lang naman and sabi ng mga coaches we should respect every game the same," Dy shared during the post-game press conference.
"Pinaghandaan talaga namin 'yung Capital1. Everyone naman did their jobs, so mas madali on my part."
The High Speed Hitters’ strong start, according to Dy, is a product of better preparation coming into the conference, including their preseason stint in Japan.
"I guess we were able to prepare better for this conference," she said. "Nakatulong din 'yung pagpunta namin sa Japan. We were able to learn a lot there, and 'yung gelling talaga ng team."
Finally healthy & complete
The 30-year-old spiker also highlighted the advantage of having a complete and healthy lineup this season.
Over the past few seasons, PLDT has struggled with fielding a complete lineup, with Dy, Kim Fajardo, Savi Davison, and Mika Reyes dealing with injuries in the past.
Dy, in particular, had to wait 559 days before returning from a knee injury she suffered during the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference.
"I think complete kami this season, walang injuries," she added. "It's good na lahat kami pwede sa loob."

Despite her solid performance, Dy made it clear that she isn’t getting ahead of herself, keeping her focus on steady improvement.
"Tuloy-tuloy lang. Next game namin paghahandaan ulit," she said.
"Every day is a chance for us to get better. Hindi rin naman perfect 'yung laro namin, so adjust pa kami, train again tomorrow, new kalaban, new mindset."
Dy and the rest of the High Speed Hitters will look to extend their winning streak when they face the Akari Chargers next Thursday, Feb. 19, still at the FilOil Centre in San Juan.
