Lyann De Guzman continues to be a major piece for the Nxled Chameleons amid their loaded roster, which features the likes of Brooke Van Sickle and Myla Pablo, in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Even in a stacked Nxled roster, rookie Lyann De Guzman is still carving out a crucial role in the team's 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign.
De Guzman continued her steady rise as the Chameleons swept Capital1, 25-18, 26-24, 25-18, at the Ynares Center Montalban Saturday, Feb. 7.
The No. 4 pick finished with 13 points on 12 attacks and one service ace, providing timely scoring throughout the match for Nxled, which joined Cignal as early leaders with their identical 2-0 marks.
“Actually, I’m very happy na nakuha namin 'yong straight sets. Nakita natin noong first two sets, nag-struggle kami nang kaunti pero naging patient lang inside the court — one point at a time. Sabi nga ni coach, kailangan lang naming mag-stick sa system,” De Guzman said during the post-game presser.
With Nxled boasting a deep lineup, bannered by Petro Gazz’s championship core, the former Ateneo standout has been quick to adjust to a different role.
Previously used as an outside hitter, De Guzman has learned to complement reigning and former Most Valuable Players Brooke Van Sickle and Myla Pablo, respectively, as an opposite hitter.

“Stick lang talaga sa system ni coach,” De Guzman said.
“Sa bagong role na ibinigay sa’kin, accept lang din. Noong college naman, nag-opposite ako. Kung ano 'yong kailangan ni coach, ibibigay ko lang kung ano 'yong kaya kong ibigay.”

Rather than feeling overwhelmed by the competition within the roster, De Guzman pointed to it as a major factor behind the Chameleons’ strong start.
She also credited Nxled’s quick chemistry to the experience and mindset of the group.
“Very healthy competition talaga 'yong sa team,” De Guzman explained.
“Everyone is willing to step up para tumulong sa team. Kita naman na hindi one-man show.”
“Everyone has the experience, like matatagal na sa pros, so it's easier na 'yong chemistry. And everyone is willing to learn from each other,” De Guzman added.
Up next for De Guzman and the Chameleons is a major clash with the Cignal aturday, Feb. 14, at the Ynares Center Antipolo.
