The Petro Gazz Angels step away from PVL competition after a championship-filled run, including two titles in 2025.
The Petro Gazz Angels have officially announced their decision to take a leave of absence from the PVL, pausing competitive participation after seven seasons as one of the league’s most successful franchise.
In an official statement, Petro Gazz said the decision came after careful reflection, stressing the deep connection between the organization and the sport.
“This decision was made with careful consideration, as volleyball has always been at the core of Petro Gazz’s identity,” the statement read.
Since joining the PVL in 2018, the Angels established a winning culture that produced four championships, developed national team-caliber players, and helped shape the league’s competitive standard.
Petro Gazz also extended its gratitude to its supporters, acknowledging the role fans played throughout the team’s run.
While stepping away from league play, the organization emphasized that it remains committed to volleyball development.
During the hiatus, the Angels will focus on nurturing future talent and supporting the wider PVL ecosystem.
“As part of this initiative, Petro Gazz supports the volleyball program of Nxled and other PVL teams by recommending its players, coaches, and staff, guided by its winning culture and core values,” the team said.
Petro Gazz leaves the PVL as the league’s second-winningest franchise, with four championships—two of them captured just last season.
The Angels recently completed a historic campaign by winning their first-ever All-Filipino Conference title before adding their third Reinforced Conference crown.
With the leave of absence in place, management clarified that players whose contracts are still active, as well as those whose deals have expired, are now free to sign with any PVL team, including the Nxled Chameleons.
Headlining the list of Angels expected to enter free agency are three-time league MVP Brooke Van Sickle, two-time MVP Myla Pablo, two-time Finals MVP MJ Phillips, prized rookie Jules Tolentino, and Jonah Sabete.

Also entering the market are Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Djanel Cheng, Ranya Musa, Jellie Tempiatura, Nicole Tiamzon, and Bang Pineda.
In recent weeks, several Angels have already moved on, with Remy Palma and Chie Saet signing with Strong Group Athletics, BLove Barbon transferring to the Galeries Tower HighRisers, and Joy Dacoron still weighing her next step.
