Even with import Lindsey Vander Weide going down with an injury, Petro Gazz still had plenty of firepower to eliminate erstwhile champion Creamline in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference quarterfinals.
The Petro Gazz Angels continue their surge after eliminating defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers in four sets, 25-23, 25-19, 16-25, 25-14, in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference quarterfinals on Monday, November 24, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
This marks the first time that the Cool Smashers will not enter the semifinals of a PVL tournament, ending their streak of 19 straight podiums.
It was a brilliant outing for the Angels, even without import Lindsey Vander Weide who went down with a right ankle sprain early in the first set.
The American spiker returned to the Petro Gazz bench late in the second set and eventually got back into the taraflex during the fourth frame.
Myla Pablo had her best outing in the conference with 26 points, including the game-winning spike.
Petro Gazz will face no. 8 Akari Chargers in the semifinals on Thursday, November 27, still at the Big Dome.
