It’s a full circle moment for Lindsey Vander Weide and Brooke Van Sickle, come the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.

As former teammates at the University of Oregon from 2016 to 2019, the two power spikers reunite under the Petro Gazz banner.

Full circle moment

Vander Weide admits she had always wanted to come back to the PVL even after winning the 2022 Reinforced title with Petro Gazz.

And while it took some years for it to happen once more, when the call finally came, the timing was perfect.

"I'm super excited. I kind of always wanted to come back right after I left, but I wasn't sure if the cards were ever going to play out where I was able to," she shared. "I'm in a part where I'm not playing right now, so I'm super excited to be back, and I knew I had to do it with Petro Gazz.”

A reunion six years in the making

Her comeback also sets up a reunion with Van Sickle, who joined the Angels in 2024. The two overlapped with the Oregon Ducks, forming a strong one-two punch.

"I played with Brooke for three years in college. You guys know Brooke is a huge arm. I'm a big arm, so I know that duo is going to be really good, just like it was back then," she said.

Van Sickle, having already led Petro Gazz to a coveted All-Filipino crown, sees it as a surreal moment being with Vander Weide once more.

Their connection goes beyond the court. In fact, Vander Weide was one of the individuals who helped open Van Sickle’s path to Philippine volleyball.

"Last time I played with Lindsay was about six years ago,” Van Sickle shared. “I played with her for three years and it's really just full circle moment, this entire conference, you know, having her here, having my parents here.

“It's just really cool to be able to, like, just experience this, like, a lot of change, but, you know, familiar, so I'm excited to see [what happens].”

Eyes on the crown

With both Vander Weide and Van Sickle leading the charge, Petro Gazz enters the Reinforced Conference looking to turn their full-circle reunion into another championship moment.

"Of course, that's the goal. That felt amazing to do last time. I'm really hoping we can do it again. Like you said, we still have a lot of firepower, plus Brooke, huge addition, so hopefully we can get that done,” Vander Weide ended.
