Kate Santiago and the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles will try to notch their first victory in the PVL Invitational when they battle a win-hungry Cignal HD Spikers side on Monday, August 25, 6:30 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Thunderbelles (0-1) opened their campaign with a straight-sets loss to guest squad Kobe Shinwa University, but Santiago provided a bright spot with 13 points to lead the charge.

With a short-handed roster, ZUS will once again look to their top scorer to carry the offensive load as they test themselves against a veteran Cignal side that is fighting to keep themselves alive in the title chase.

The HD Spikers (0-3), meanwhile, are still reeling from a surprise sweep at the hands of PLDT in their last outing.

Erika Santos paced them with 10 points in that defeat, but the squad has yet to find the chemistry needed to break through in the midseason conference.

With both teams hungry for a breakthrough, the Monday night showdown offers ZUS a chance to prove it can contend despite its youthful lineup — and a golden opportunity to strike against a struggling Cignal squad.
