The Galeries Tower Highrisers have officially decided to part ways with head coach Lerma Giron, marking the end of her two-year stint at the helm of the young PVL franchise.

Giron, previously the league’s lone female head coach, steered the Highrisers to their best finish yet—a historic playoff berth in the 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference.

Under her guidance, Galeries Tower improved from cellar-dweller status to pesky opponents for the top PVL squads.

Since joining the league in 2023, Galeries Tower struggled to qualify for the playoffs, finishing 11th in the 2023 All-Filipino Conference, 10th in the 2024 All-Filipino Conference, 11th in the 2024 Reinforced Conference, and 12th in the PVL on Tour.

Despite the team’s uneven record, Giron was widely credited for instilling discipline and structure into the young squad.

She also balanced her PVL duties while serving as an assistant coach for the UST Golden Tigresses and Junior Tigresses in the UAAP.

In a statement, the Highrisers expressed their gratitude for their longtime mentor.

“Your time with the Highrisers has been filled with lessons, discipline, and passion that shaped us into a stronger team. We’re grateful for the dedication you poured into every training, every game, and every player who wore the jersey,” the team wrote.

“As we move forward into a new chapter, we carry the values and hustle you instilled in us. This isn’t goodbye, it’s a thank you for being part of our journey.”

The Highrisers are expected to name a new head coach in the coming weeks as they prepare for the PVL Reinforced Conference in October.

Galeries Tower still has plenty of solid pieces in the team, namely no. 2 pick Jean Asis, along with Julia Coronel, Jewel Encarnacion, Ysa Jimenez, and France Ronquillo.
