Alyssa Valdez’s long road back from multiple knee injuries finally bore fruit as the Creamline Cool Smashers skipper earned her first individual citation since 2023, picking up the 2nd Best Outside Hitter award in the PVL on Tour.

Valdez’s last recognition came in the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference, when she was named 2nd Best Outside Spiker after recovering from a right knee injury that sidelined her for months.

She again endured a lengthy layoff in 2024 due to another knee issue, making her latest honor especially meaningful.

“After two years of a rollercoaster ride in terms of my therapy and getting back 100 percent, I'm just very, very happy na meron tayong statement na nakakabalik,” Valdez told reporters.

“I just really want to say thank you, and I'm so grateful for all the people behind na tumutulong sakin na makabalik ako.”

Valdez anchored Creamline’s preseason campaign, which saw the Cool Smashers extend their streak of podium finishes to 18 straight conferences.

The three-time PVL MVP showcased her all-around value once again, finishing 10th in scoring with 69 points, while also ranking seventh in spiking at 31.75 percent, ninth in aces with 0.32 per set, and 10th in receiving with a 35.12-percent efficiency rate.

While the award is a personal milestone, Valdez acknowledged the pressure and responsibility that comes with it, noting that it also serves as motivation moving forward.

“Honestly, siyempre it's a big pressure and responsibility getting an award but definitely it's a confidence-booster din talaga. Sana magtuloy-tuloy lang 'yung ganitong games and makatulong pa rin ako sa team,” she added.
