Speaking in Bisaya (with translations provided during the interview), the proud Cebuana shared how her childhood grit, quiet confidence, and no-fuss mindset helped her become the “Boss D” fans adore today.
“I never back down,” she said, recalling how her competitive streak started way before the bright lights of the Premier Volleyball League—back when she was just trying to win at patintero or agawan base on the streets of Cebu.
Before volleyball became her world, Wong was shooting hoops thanks to her dad.
“I started with basketball,” she shared.
“Volleyball wasn’t even my sport. I only saw it during school.”
Now one of the most recognizable faces in Philippine volleyball, Wong is no stranger to social media heat. But she’s mastered the art of staying cool.
“People say so much online, but I don’t engage. I just let them be,” Wong said. “Because even if you explain your side, if they don’t want to understand, it’s useless.”
Instead, the Choco Mucho playmaker channels her energy into her goals—both on and off the court. And just like her signature sets, everything starts with vision and intention.
“I know what I want in life and what I want to achieve. I write it all down, then step by step, I figure out how to get there.”
