The numbers may not have been pretty, but that didn’t stop the Farm Fresh Foxies from securing their first win in the PVL on Tour.

Despite committing 39 errors, the Foxies found a way to score a four-set win against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 26-24, at the Capital Arena in Ilagan City on Saturday, July 12.

While their errors weren’t ideal by any means, Farm Fresh remained firm in their belief in the bold, aggressive system brought in by new head coach Alessandro Lodi.

“Sa sistema ni coach Lodi, number one talaga sa kanya is maging aggressive—no matter what, kahit mag-error ka,” said Trisha Tubu, who led the team with 22 points.

“Lagi niyang sinasabi sa amin na okay lang magkamali dahil tinry mo, kaysa natakot ka tapos nagkamali ka pa. Ang sarap sa feeling na may free will kami.”

Jolina Dela Cruz, who added 16 markers in the win over Choco Mucho, also admitted that the Italian tactician’s system is challenging, but empowering.

“Mahirap ‘yung sistema na ina-apply ni coach pero willing kaming matuto. Sinasanay niya kami na huwag matakot magkamali,” she said.

“’Yung laro mo lalabas lang ‘pag hindi ka takot. Kaya sobrang grateful kami sa approach ni coach.”

But for Lodi himself, the result was less important than the progress since joining the team in May.

“A win is not a definitive thing, just like a loss,” he said. “We're growing, we're learning a lot, but we know we have a long way to go, and so every step of the process is important and not because we won.”

“Of course, we're very happy now, but we need to be a little bit detached from the win and loss. We need to see the path and see the process, so that's what makes me the most proud,” he added.

With their newfound system, the Foxies look to continue building momentum and confidence when they face the Petro Gazz Angels to close out their PVL on Tour campaign in Ilagan City.
