Rookie standout Jean Asis and hometown favorite Jewel Encarnacion look to lead the charge as the Galeries Tower Highrisers gun for their first win in the PVL on Tour when they face the undermanned Petro Gazz Angels on Sunday, June 29. Match time is at 4:00 p.m. from the Batangas City Sports Center.

Asis, the second overall pick in this year’s rookie draft, showed promise in her debut with 16 points and is expected to play a key role at the net against a Petro Gazz team missing star spikers Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips, who are with Alas Pilipinas for national team duty.

The Highrisers hope to capitalize on the Angels’ depleted lineup and make noise early in the preseason.

Encarnacion, one of the team’s most seasoned attackers and a native of Batangas, will try to spark a winning effort in front of her home crowd alongside fellow holdovers France Ronquillo, Fhen Emnas, and Dimdim Pacres.

The Highrisers will also look for continued growth from their new core, including UPHSD product Winnie Bedaña and setter Ivy Perez.

Petro Gazz, meanwhile, is aiming to bounce back after a surprise loss to Nxled on Saturday.

The Angels will rely on veterans Myla Pablo and Jonah Sabete, with Nicole Tiamzon expected to shoulder more responsibility.

Rookie playmaker Jules Tolentino will continue to get reps at the setter position with Donnalyn Paralejas helping steer the offense.

With both teams chasing their first victory of the preseason, the stage is set for a spirited showdown in Batangas — and for Galeries Tower, a chance to prove its breakthrough playoff run earlier this year was just the beginning.
