No surprises as Bella Belen joins the Capital1 Solar Spikers after being selected as the no. 1 overall pick in the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft.
Three-time UAAP MVP Bella Belen has been officially selected as the no. 1 overall pick by the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft held on Sunday, June 8, at Novotel Manila in Quezon City.
Belen, who led National University to three UAAP championships in four seasons, was widely regarded as the top prospect in this year's draft class.
Her selection by the Solar Spikers was anticipated, especially after the team secured the first pick in the draft lottery.
The selection also marks newly-appointed head coach Jorge de Brito’s first move with the Capital1 franchise after being hired just a week before the Rookie Draft.
The 22-year-old superstar spiker isn’t present for the Rookie Draft as she is currently in Vietnam for the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup. Alas Pilipinas, coached by de Brito, are currently 2-0 in Pool B.
