Angge Alcantara had the better of her former Adamson teammates as the PLDT High Speed Hitters scored a dominant sweep of the Farm Fresh Foxies in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Angge Alcantara was the focal point in PLDT’s latest straight-sets win over Farm Fresh, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
The matchup was made more special for Alcantara, who had the opportunity to go up against her former Adamson teammates, now with the Foxies.
There, she faced fellow former Lady Falcons Trisha Tubu, Louie Romero, Lorene Toring, Rizza Cruz, and Ckyle Tagsip.
Still, it was the 24-year-old setter who shined brightest, being hailed Player of the Game after putting up 12 excellent sets and four points.
“Masaya lang din kasi parang ngayon lang din kami nagkita kita sobrang busy. Happy din ako na maganda 'yung performance ko,” Alcantara said during the post-game press conference.
“Excited lang talaga ako na makalaban sila and na-miss ko din,” she added.
Slowly but surely making a name of her own, Alcantara has continued to grow as PLDT’s main setter for the conference, even following the return of Kim Fajardo.

But even with the bigger role for the team, the Adamson standout still makes sure to take in the lessons given to her by Fajardo.
Alcantara also knows what areas she still needs to work on to be a more complete playmaker for the High Speed Hitters.
“Every day naman pagka ginagamit siya ino-observe ko talaga kung ano ‘yung pwede kong makuha from her and ina-apply ko lang din kung anong nakikita ko and nao-observe ko sa kanya,” said Alcantara.
“Aware naman ako na marami pa akong dapat na i-improve sa sarili ko especially sa skills,” she explained. “Siguro 'yung decision making pa and pag-distribute nang tama sa mga spikers and 'yung connection kailangan pa talaga.”

With two games left in their preliminary round schedule, Alcantara and the rest of the PLDT squad will look to close out strong heading into the quarterfinals.
Up next for the High Speed Hitters will be the undefeated Creamline Cool Smashers on Feb. 15 at the Ynares Center Antipolo.
