PVL: Trisha Tubu, Louie Romero praise coach Benson Bocboc after first win with Farm Fresh

The Farm Fresh Foxies finally came alive in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The massive upset sweep against the Akari Chargers marked the first win of the Foxies under interim head coach Benson Bocboc, who took over for Japanese tactician Shota Sato during the offseason.

While it took some time to adjust to Bocboc’s system, Farm Fresh stars Louie Romero and Trisha Tubu trusted the UP women’s volleyball team head coach to help their young Foxies out.

Romero, for one, pointed out Benson’s use of stats to help the team adjust and figure out the game plan.

“Mas mabilis naming ma-adjust ‘yung dapat ma-adjust and mabilis naming mabasa ‘yung kalaban namin, so laking help siya kasi hindi mo na kailangan gumalaw ng todo kasi kilala mo na at tsaka napag-aralan mo na ‘yung kalaban,” Romero said during the post-game press conference.

The same sentiment was shared by Tubu, who had an efficient 21 points in the straight-set win against the Chargers.

“May tiwala kami kay coach [Benson] kasi na lahat ng sasabihin niya talaga sinusunod namin kasi alam namin na may number kasi. So talagang nag-stick kami dun sa plan and nangyari na napanalo namin ‘yung game,” said Tubu.

Bocboc is no stranger to the PVL, having coached the now-defunct F2 Logistics Cargo Movers during the 2022 Reinforced Conference. 

But it’s his time in De La Salle that is more known to many. That’s why handling a young team like the Foxies comes naturally for him.

“Sa tingin ko, kasi flexible ‘yung team eh. May mga instruction ka mabilis nila makuha so kailangan lang they have to stick dun sa ginagawa tapos magtiwala lang sila then ‘yung result susunod eh,” said Bocboc. 

“So ngayon, nagkataon natapat dito sa game na ito. Tinatiyaga talaga nila,” he concluded.
